Abstract:
The 1994 Tiles Index layer contains a spatial index grid of non-overlapping polygons, each polygon representing the area covered by a single digital orthophoto file, for all of Summit County. This tile index is the basis for how all 1994 orthophotography, and topographic data compiled from the aerial photography, are stored in ESRI ARC/INFO Librarian databases. The name of each tile is a combination of truncated northing and easting coordinate values of the southwest corner of each tile. Tiles are 3000 feet wide by 2000 feet high covering 6000000 square feet for 1"=100' scale orthophotos, and 6000 feet wide by 4000 feet high covering 24000000 square feet for 1"=200' scale orthophotos. This dataset was created by Woolpert LLP for the 1994 orthophotography project.
Purpose:
To provide the taxpayers and agencies of Summit County a tile index layer useful for locating raster and vector GIS data that have been organized in this tiling schema. This dataset was compiled to National Map Accuracy Standards for a map scale of 1"=100' (1:1200) for those purposes. The suitability of this dataset for any other uses is not guaranteed and the user assumes all risk for such uses. Summit County, Ohio, assumes no legal responsibility for works derived from this dataset.
