Abstract:
The 2000 Digital Terrain Model (DTM) Terrain Breaklines layer contains 3D polylines, with elevations associated with each vertex, for all of Summit County. This is an update to the 1994 DTM breaklines data, originally compiled by Woolpert LLP from 1994 photography. Kucera International, Inc. updated and error corrected data in areas of change indicated from aerial photography taken in April 2000. Delivery format was in ESRI ARC Generate ASCII text files tiled into 16 areas covering Summit County. Each ARC Generate file was converted to a "Z aware" polyline shapefile and appended, using ESRI ArcGIS 8.3 SP2, by Summit County GIS, to create this county-wide layer. This layer is part of a DTM dataset containing breakline and spot elevation data to be used together in the creation of accurate 3D surface representations (TIN, contours).
Purpose:
To provide the taxpayers and agencies of Summit County a 3D surface layer at a scale and accuracy useful for property appraisal, planning, and terrain analysis. These DTM data were also necessary to orthorectify the 2000 aerial photography and adjust distorted topographic data features derived from the photography. This dataset was compiled to National Map Accuracy Standards for a map scale of 1"=100' (1:1200) for those purposes. The suitability of this dataset for any other uses is not guaranteed and the user assumes all risk for such uses. Summit County, Ohio, assumes no legal responsibility for works derived from this dataset.
