Abstract:
The 1994 Buildings layer contains buildings polygons for all of Summit County, compiled by Woolpert LLP from 1994 aerial photography. The buildings polygon feature class was exported from a ESRI ARC/INFO Librarian database to a single county-wide shapefile using ArcView 3.2a, and ARC/INFO-specific attribute fields were then deleted from the shapefile using ArcGIS 8.3 SP2, by Summit County GIS in 2003.
Purpose:
To provide the taxpayers and agencies of Summit County a buildings layer at a scale and accuracy useful for property appraisal, planning, and analysis. This dataset was compiled to National Map Accuracy Standards for a map scale of 1"=100' (1:1200) for those purposes. The suitability of this dataset for any other uses is not guaranteed and the user assumes all risk for such uses. Summit County, Ohio, assumes no legal responsibility for works derived from this dataset.
Supplemental_Information:
On conversion to shapefile from the Librarian database, buildings that cross tile boundaries are split by the boundary, resulting in multiple adjacent polygons representing a single building feature. The ARC/INFO command EXTRACT was not used because it is limited to 500 tiles (the library contains 1135 tiles) and would produce similar results.
