Abstract:

The 1994 Digital Orthophotos raster catalog contains digital, color, ortho-rectified aerial photography for all of Summit County, compiled by Woolpert LLP from aerial photography taken in 1994. The map scale of the orthophotos is 1"=200', except in densely populated areas, where the scale is 1"=100'. Delivery format was in uncompressed Tiff, and Mr. SID. The catalog is made up of 1135 non-overlapping, individual raster files. The name of each file is a combination of truncated northing and easting coordinate values of the southwest corner of each tile. Tiles cover a geographic extent of 3000 by 2000 feet for 1"=100' tiles, and 6000 by 4000 feet for 1"=200' tiles. Image resolution is 0.5 foot pixels for 1"=100' tiles and one foot pixels for 1"=200' tiles. Negative scale of the aerial photography is 1"=800'. Mr. SID compression is 60:1. A database file, in dBase format, containing a record for each photo, is included for viewing the catalog as a single seamless raster layer in ESRI software.

Purpose:

To provide the taxpayers and agencies of Summit County a digital orthophotos layer in a manageable file size at a scale and accuracy useful for property appraisal, planning, and terrain analysis. This dataset was compiled to National Map Accuracy Standards for map scales of 1"=100' (1:1200) and 1"=200' (1:2400) for those purposes. The suitability of this dataset for any other uses is not guaranteed and the user assumes all risk for such uses. Summit County, Ohio, assumes no legal responsibility for works derived from this dataset.
