Abstract:
The 2000 Spot Elevations layer contains points with a known northing, easting, and elevation; for all of Summit County. This is an update to the 1994 spot elevation data, originally compiled by Woolpert LLP from 1994 aerial photography. Kucera International, Inc. updated and error corrected spot elevation data in areas of change indicated from aerial photography taken in April 2000. Delivery format was in ESRI ARC/INFO coverage export format divided by orthophoto tile. All tiles were then appended to a single coverage; loaded into an SDE database, with the attribute fields KFEAT and ELEV renamed to Type and Elevation, respectively; and exported to shapefile; by Summit County GIS in 2003. Spot elevations were compiled at all road/railroad intersections; road centerlines at the abutment and center of bridges and similar structures; road centerlines over all major culverts; the crest of all closed contours; the lowest point of all closed depressions, significant saddles, cuts, and depressions; and areas of dense vegetation where the ground was visible. Water surface elevation points were compiled for readings near the center of the water body as it appeared on the library tile.
Purpose:
To provide the taxpayers and agencies of Summit County a spot elevations layer at a scale and accuracy useful for property appraisal, planning, and terrain analysis. This dataset was compiled to National Map Accuracy Standards for a map scale of 1"=100' (1:1200) for those purposes. The suitability of this dataset for any other uses is not guaranteed and the user assumes all risk for such uses. Summit County, Ohio, assumes no legal responsibility for works derived from this dataset.
