Abstract:: The Allotments layer contains polygons depicting the platted allotments and subdivisions for all of Summit County. This dataset is compiled from the Summit County parcel maps and maintained in the same ESRI ARC/INFO LIBRARIAN database as the parcel maps. Each region represents a single plat filing of an allotment. Associated attributes contain the allotment name and the location of the plat in the Summit County Records.
Purpose:: To provide the taxpayers and agencies of Summit County an allotments layer at a scale and accuracy useful for property appraisal, planning, and analysis. The suitability of this dataset for any other uses is not guaranteed and the user assumes all risk for such uses. Summit County, Ohio, assumes no legal responsibility for works derived from this dataset. This dataset should never be relied upon to establish with certainty the location of property lines or the location of any other feature in relation to a property line. To establish a property line, or the relationship of a feature to a property line, the services of a Professional Surveyor, registered to practice in the State of Ohio, must be employed.

Logical_Consistency_Report:

This dataset was compiled in, and exported from, an ESRI ArcGIS 8.3 LIBRARIAN database and is valid for the geometry rules pertaining to regions in ESRI's Coverage format.

There is some inconsistency as to whether right-of-way and other non-taxable areas in the platted allotment have been included as part of the allotment region, due to different data conversion and editing standards. The current standard is to include the areas as part of the allotment region. Summit County GIS plans to update previously created allotment polygons containing these "void" areas in the future, as time permits.

Completeness_Report:

Dataset is complete as known to Summit County GIS. Omissions may exist due to lack of documentation during the original conversion process to digital form. Any omissions should be reported to Summit County GIS, with supporting documentation, so corrections may be made.
